Our Ethics
While our range of foods are a great experience to enjoy, it is important to assure you that where ever they are sourced, be they alternative meat, game or home produced, they are offered with an understanding of their environmental and welfare implications. We have therefore researched our sources in depth to make sure each product is only offered to you from yoyo if they are part of production system which is in keeping with the welfare and conservation policies of the EU. All the meats from yoyo come through meat plants which are certified by the EU food standard agency under licence to be acceptable in Welfare, Hygiene and Conservation.
CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between Governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. All meat offered from yoyo can only come to you as part of this policy. This means that it is either farmed – usually for the skin and the meat is a by product, or under a hunting licence in order to keep the population under control so that the eco system is not harmed.
