Top 5 late night snacks

Let’s face it, nobody is immune to an attack of the midnight munchies. It can hit anyone, in any situation, and it is hard to ignore once the attack starts. So what are your options? How can you deal with this ‘crippling ailment’? Well the options are varied, but often not too appetising. Though in no particular order of importance, let’s look at the following:

  • Let’s start with the original late-night snack, the sandwich. Yes, believe it or not, it was thanks to the Earl of Sandwich we have today’s popular lunchtime snack, but it originated as a late night snack for the Earl who simply asked his butler to bring him a selection of meats in between two slices of bread late one evening. It didn’t take long to catch on and if there is anything surprising about this, it is that it took people so long to create a sandwich in the first place!
  • How about the kebab? Yes, this is almost the default late night snack for those returning home after a good night out on the town. Nutritionally the kebab has to be questionable, but as far as being responsible for more bouts of indigestion than anything else, the kebab has to take first prize.
  • Pizza. Yes, this is one of the most popular snacks – either frozen and hidden away in the dark recesses of your freezer, or ordered as a takeaway. Bristol has more than a few pizza establishments to choose from.
  • Chinese. Once again a firm favourite with the late-night reveller, Chinese food caters for a wide variety of tastes. Of course the smart Chinese take away in Bristol will have stock items for the hungry late-night customer – chips being the most popular because most fish and chip shops have shut earlier in the evening.
  • Indian. Yes, where would we be today without the late night Korma or Vindaloo? Perhaps you are more of a chicken tikka masala type. No matter what your tastes, the late night Indian is often a good bet for a late night snack, and with one big plus. Indian tastes just as good when cold the next morning!

However if you live in Bristol, your late night snack habits are about to undergo a massive change. Why, well for two reasons. Home delivery and late night, or should that be early morning, opening. And what are we talking about – delicious, juicy, mouthwatering burgers from YoYo burger in Byron Place, Clifton Triangle. Yup, these are burgers to die for (not literally!), and just looking at a phot of one makes you want to lick the screen of your smartphone they are so delicious.

And yes, we were correct when we spoke about home burger home delivery and if it doesn’t sound confusing, take away home delivery. Bristol may have a number of burger bars of the franchise variety, but the majority of them close well before midnight, which is of absolutely no use when you have an attack of the munchies early in the morning. However with YoYo burger in Bristol, up until 4am you can call in and get a burger, have it as a takeaway, or call up for express home delivery. Now that’s got to be the perfect antidote for even the biggest attack of the late night munchies!
